I am working with 'Super Safe' rosin flux. How do I clean the tip of the iron given I am not using acid flux anymore? Would a brass brush work well or is there a different way of doing so?

Sambear,

I just followed Ed"s advice and bought some of that Super Safe Gel.

When I got that, I also purchased their "Lead Free Tip Tinner". It really does a SUPER job of cleaning and coating the tip.

You just put the tip in and pull it out and it's bright. I also do that just before shutting down for the night. The tip stays bright until I get started again.

A block of Sal ammoniac is also an excellent way to clean your tip. I noted this in the Soldering thread as well.
